Keep the RV you Have!! DIY: Make it Better
There are many advantages to updating your RV rather than getting rid of it and buying something new or used. The benefits are truly countless, and in this article will cover many of the big ones.
- Paint and Flooring- Giving your RV a face-lift with a new paint color and updated flooring is relatively easy and inexpensive! Lowes and Home Depot have many home options that translate into an RV. You can get snap-together or stick-down laminate, durable, waterproof flooring, making it a perfect option for an RV. There are also numerous paints, colors and types or even wallpaper that should work for your RV.
- Bedding- Fresh bedding can make such a difference in an RV. Making your RV feel as close to a home as possible by putting a new set of sheets, blankets and a comforter can be very satisfying.
- Bathroom Update- Usually RV bathrooms are relatively small, so updating things like the backsplash and shower curtain can make all the difference in a confined space such as a bathroom.
All in all, there’s really no reason an RV should be tossed aside for cosmetic reasons.
There are inexpensive fixes you can do yourself that make your RV look better than new! Try
to research some local stores that may have what you need before you start work. Having a
local source is always a better option for DIY projects because you can usually ask questions
and return items easier and faster than buying offline.
UPDATE TO THIS ARTICLE: Since the publishing of this article and Podcast #167, we have partnered with a company called Revive. Revive manufactures wall and ceiling boards for recreational vehicle manufacturers and has made its products available to RV owners. They have created a simple to-do restoration process for all RVs, new or used.
The Revive product line is ideal to refresh the interior of any RV. You can take on the project yourself or have your favorite RV Service Center do it. Besides refreshing walls and ceilings, Revive also provides what you need to revive backsplashes and cabinets. If your cabinets, doors, and drawers are too intricate to refinish, Revive can make new cabinet doors and drawers and ship them with new matching laminate for the cabinets.
Want to go all in on your renovation? Shake things up with brand-new laminate cabinet doors. Pair them with a matching REVIVE Cabinet Kit for box face frames and side panels and you’ve got yourself a whole new kitchen.
