Convict Lake Bishop CaliforniaConvict Lake
This lake is a must-see! If you’re wondering how it got the name it has today, that is a fascinating story. A group of escaped convicts camped at the lake in 1871, and when a mail carrier stumbled into their camp, they murdered him. This got the attention of a local posse and the convicts were all shot or executed later on. Nowadays the lake provides visitors with the perfect lake day.
