History & Culture
The alleged UFO incident of 1947 has brought a lot of tourists and curious travelers from all over the world. There was a report that an object crashed near the Walker Airforce Base that contained alien beings. Ever since then, tourism to Roswell has been steady and lucrative. And there’s much more to see than possible alien sightings. Consider making Roswell your next stop!

Of course, the first place you might think to visit would be the
UFO Crash Sight, if you’re up for a little adventure and fun. The site has been open to the public since 2018; before that it was a restricted area. It’s about 75 miles away from the city of Roswell but a worthwhile trip if you want to add this as an interesting traveling story to tell your friends and family. 

You also might want to check out the Roswell Museum while you’re in town. The museum and art center has a large variety of Southwestern art, educational and cultural programs as well as the Rogers Aston collection, which features historical artifacts from the 16th century to the 20th century. Make this museum a must see for your trip to Roswell. 

Do you like to golf? You might want to check out the Nancy Lopez Golf Course. The hospitable staff will help you get everything you need to enjoy a beautiful day golfing on this gorgeous and green golf course. This 18-hole course is easy to walk through if you don’t want to rent a golf cart. And if you get hungry, they have a stocked snack bar in the main building. 

Do you feel like having a day in the dunes? Go on a dune buggy or ATV adventure in Mescalero Sand Dunes! This place is inexpensive and a ton of fun for everyone. About 45 miles from downtown Roswell, you can experience soft desert sands and huge cottonwood trees like no other! There is easy access to all of the trails from the three parking lots, so don’t worry about getting lost.

There are so many options for great food in Roswell, but here are just a few to consider.

This delightful place has the best breakfast in town! From huevos rancheros to Spanish omeletes and burritos, you can’t go wrong getting breakfast from here! They also have a great burger menu including the green chile cheeseburger, the double barrel burger and a huge 3 lb burger! If you finish that 3 lb burger in under 60 minutes, it’s on the house!  

Peppers Grill & Bar
Buffalo wings, chicken strips and nachos! How can you go wrong? They also have a divine dinner menu with steak, ribs, chicken and seafood options, along with sandwiches, burgers and salads. And don’t forget to order a drink to pair with your meal. They have an extensive beer list, wine and famously good margaritas. With an extremely amazing southwest atmosphere inside and posh outside seating, this might become your new favorite place. 

Antigua Cocina Mexicana
If you’re in need of some delicious authentic Mexican food then look no further. They have all your favorites from street tacos to enchiladas and carne asada. When to Visit
The best months to visit Roswell would be March through June. The temperature highs are around 80 degrees Fahrenheit and the lows usually don’t go any lower than 50 degrees Fahrenheit. So plan your trip and come on down to Roswell to have the adventure you won’t forget!

 History & Culture
Carlsbad is widely known for its huge caverns and fascinating history. Native Americans used to reside in the Guadalupe Mountains, and some of their pictographs can be found throughout the Carlsbad Caverns National Park. By the 1500’s Spanish explorers were traveling through this part of New Mexico. Spain thus claimed the southwest until 1821 when Mexico revolted. And in the 1840’s when Mexico lost its fight against US expansion, the New Mexico territory was created. Jumping forward to modern day, about half a million people come to visit the caverns every year. The cavern trails make for a full day of getting to explore and learn more about the history surrounding this area!

Carlsbad CavernsWhat to See
Of course, the whole reason for coming to Carlsbad would be to see the limestone caverns! Hopefully your first destination would be to Carlsbad Caverns National Park! You can take a guided tour through the caverns, or you can explore them on your own using two trails, The Big Room and Natural Entrance. Both trails take about an hour and a half to traverse. And take as many photos as you want including flash, as the caves are not sensitive to this type of photography. Make reservations so see the caverns in advance of your trip. 

 If you’re ready to be above ground, be sure to check out Sitting Bull Falls. It’s an oasis in the middle of the desert! It’s a beautiful spot with various pools that you can swim in. There are also trails around the falls that take you to some beautiful spots. Pack your swimsuit and sunscreen! 

 After some fun in the sun, be sure to check out Pecos River Antique Mall. This place has a little of everything and is highly rated on Trip-Adviser. Spend some time shopping for the perfect gift or a little something for yourself. The store features items like furniture, jewelry, glassware, candles and spices.

Yellow Brix Restaurant
Looking for some amazing southwestern and Cuban food? Well, no need to look any further than the Yellow Brix Restaurant. They offer lunch, brunch, dinner and late-night menu options and the atmosphere is lovely with its traditional southwest vibes. With items like Tuscan chicken, classic fettuccine and steak tacos, you’ll be sure to find a dish for any appetite. They also offer Gluten Free options.

When to Visit
For ideal weather, the best time to travel would be from the month of March to June. The temperature is typically between 50 degrees Fahrenheit and 85 degrees Fahrenheit. The chance of rain is also very low during this time. So pack your bags and come on down to Carlsbad. f
